Shortly before the end of 2018, NKT won a contract totaling EUR 300 million. The contract is to deliver an export cable system from the German mainland to two offshore wind farms in the Baltic sea, north east of the German island Rügen, for the German transmission system operator 50Hertz.

Manufacturing of the cables will be carried out in Karlskrona, Sweden, and in Cologne, Germany, and the wind power facility is expected to be fully commissioned by 2022. SEK has issued a number of guarantees for the project, and together with NKT, SEK can contribute to the production of environmentally friendly electricity.
